ROUND OLIVE WOOD ORNAMENT WITH HOLY FAMILY

ROUND OLIVE WOOD ORNAMENT WITH HOLY FAMILY

This round olive wood ornament featuring the Holy Family is handcrafted in Bethlehem by the Giacaman Family, master woodcarvers whose work reflects generations of tradition and artistry. Each piece is uniquely shaped and finished with the natural bark left along the outer edge, adding an organic, rustic detail that highlights the beauty of the wood in its most natural form.

At the center of this legacy is Ibrahim Giacaman, a fourth-generation Christian woodcarver who, along with his father, Salem, runs the largest olive wood factory in Israel. Ibrahim learned the craft from his father and grandfather, Elias, and later studied art and sculpture in Bethlehem and at the Academy of Fine Art in Florence, Italy. Today, he works alongside his family, personally creating designs and finishing each piece by hand.

The olive wood is sourced from branches pruned from olive groves, never from cut-down trees, honoring a sustainable and respectful approach to the land. The branches are naturally dried for a year or more before carving begins, allowing the wood to develop its rich tone and distinctive grain. Careful attention is given to every detail, with natural variations, small cracks, and unique patterns embraced as part of the wood’s authentic character.

Because of the handmade nature of these ornaments, each piece is unique and may vary slightly from the photo, making it a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
